Smuggling himself in via the damaged vehicle, he managed to catch the criminal by surprise and fought him, defeating him single-handedly. At some point, he found out his best friend from World War II, Bucky Barnes, who was thought to have died decades ago is revealed to be alive and resurfaced into similar super soldier known as the Winter Soldier, then eventually frees him from the enemies' mind control.
